University Coalition for Student Inner Development (IDG)
University Coalition for Student Inner Development
The University Coalition for Student Inner Development brings together colleges and universities worldwide with the aim of embedding inner development as an integral part of academic education. The aim is to empower students to shape the future in a resilient and responsible manner. Higher education should not only impart knowledge, but also nurture the potential and character of young people. In an increasingly complex world, we need individuals who can act with inner strength, ethical awareness and creative drive.
Based on this conviction, the University Coalition for Student Inner Development was founded in 2024, a coalition of universities and higher education institutions that aim to establish inner development as part of preparing students for the future.
Project details
Aim
The coalition’s aim is for every student to leave university having developed a sustainable approach to personal growth. In practical terms, this means creating learning environments that foster resilience, a sense of purpose, creative problem-solving and collaborative action. In the long term, this should help ensure that graduates are not only successful in their careers, but also play an active and responsible role in shaping a better society.
Activities
In a first step the participating universities will establish working groups to develop common principles, structures and objectives. The aim is not to impose a standardised model, but to create a flexible, practice-oriented framework that takes account of the diversity of local circumstances. As the process progresses, the participating institutions undertake to identify existing internal development initiatives, carry out a self-evaluation and, building on this, draw up action plans. It is also planned that experiences and results will be regularly shared within the coalition so that members can learn from one another.
