Her research project, “Organisational decision-making and implementation processes in dealing with digital violence against journalists”, is a sub-study of the doctoral thesis that Anna Kuschezki is undertaking in collaboration with Darmstadt University of Applied Sciences and the Bauhaus University Weimar.

The project examines how media organisations in Germany develop, introduce and embed measures against digital violence within their organisations. The focus rests on those factors which influence decisions for or against specific protective measures, what challenges arise during implementation, and how gender-specific forms of digital violence are taken into account in this process. The study is based on structured interviews with decision-makers from private and public-service media organisations. Theories from organisational research are drawn upon for the analysis. As part of the doctoral thesis, the study’s findings are intended to contribute to a better understanding of how organisations deal with digital violence and to support media organisations in developing effective and sustainable protective measures.
